It’s half way through the first week of the school holidays but the first full day for me. Monday I worked till early afternoon, then 13 went to respite. Yesterday I was home but 13 didn’t return from respite till after 1 p.m. That brought us to today. The night is firmly here so it is probably safe to say, it went well. Let’s face it, the first week is still a novelty plus 13 always has some residual tiredness from being away. While she sleeps much better now than she used to she still doesn’t get quite the length of sleep when she is away as she does at home.
Things have improved, a couple of years ago she and I would already be fraught. Frustration, boredom, lack of communication skills and severely challenging behaviour made every school holiday a nightmare. In honesty there are still moments and still challenging behaviour but it is NOTHING like it used to be. Thank goodness.
Photographs today were mostly confined to Instagrams but here’s a view of my day.
Around lunchtime I thought it might be nice to drink some daisies.
Okay, camomile. My tea addiction is well documented and in honesty I normally expect it to be the real thing and NATO standard (strong, white, two sugars – or sweeteners. Don’t start, I KNOW but sugar has calories) but now and again it is nice to have something lighter. At least this time I knew it was herbal, unlike the time I dunked two teabags in mugs for Hub and I, added milk and boiled water then wondered why they were both turning a most delightful shade of milky lilac. Lavender tea doesn’t need milk, in case you were in doubt.

I had to wait to the evening to get any real time out of the house on my own. Fifteen whole minutes. I know, try to not be too envious.
Where I stand, with Lady’s Mantle. It’s a gorgeous plant but my goodness it doesn’t half grow.

Sit in the sunshine and shadow as the sun begins its journey into the West.

Then come back and capture some hydrangea bathed in the evening light of magic hour, with bonus sky flower made by the iPhone lens. It’s probably one of my favourite features of the ‘phone.

I took the Canon with me but uploading and editing will have to wait to tomorrow, the scenes will be much the same as I tend to do a swap between devices when something catches my eye.

janet isserlis - hydrangea! glad for a good day. love to you
Penbleth - Yes. I thought of you as I took the shot. These heads are a little different to the colour of the one you posted earlier but there are bluer ones on the bush as well. Yes, it was a good day. Love to you too.
Catherine - I admire your fortitude…is that the right word?
My Lady’s mantle has died a death this year quite why I don’t know as I thought it was indestructible.
Penbleth - Thank you. Perhaps all the rain did for it, yes I thought they were pretty indestructible. I was given a small piece when we moved in to this house, or rather the following Spring, that would have been 2000. It has had to be cut back several times and little pieces pop up in unexpected places, like cracks in the pavement and on the side of the wall.
