You know the summer holidays are drawing to an end when you start getting letters and ‘phone calls setting up appointments for discussions or appraisals of 13′s continuing care/education/respite etc. Yesterday was one of those days.
The social worker called, wanting to visit during the last week of the holidays, the nurse will be visiting that week as well. I suppose we get to do the round-up of how the summer went and what is going to happen during the coming school year.
The seasons are changing, bees are still swarming around the lavender.
However, the mornings are already significantly darker, the evenings arrive much sooner. Rain during the afternoon already means putting on the light, at least for the duration of the shower. The summer is ending, Autumn is waiting, already sending out feelers of coolness morning and evening, the arrival of yellows amongst the green of the leaves.
What do you mean, you can’t see it? Look more closely.
Outstanding photography there, girl. I know. They serve merely to illustrate the point, grey skies, yellowing leaves, the seasons are ready to move on again.
This year will see us beginning the process of thinking about what is going to happen to 13 when she leaves school. Where will she go? Will there be services that could help her? Is there anything local or will she have to travel? Is there anything?
For now there are a couple of weeks left to summer, a couple of weeks to relax and enjoy our leisure.
Autumn is coming.
